Windows · unsigned preview

Try the Windows preview builds.

The helper preview backs up and resets only your Windows user’s Zoom data folder, then starts the normally installed Zoom desktop app.

Unsigned preview ZIPs are available. Native Windows UI, installation, Authenticode signing, and affected-PC meeting behavior have not been validated on Windows hardware.

What the preview is designed to do

Back up first. Keep Zoom’s own app.

The helper does not install Zoom, change updater settings, run as administrator, or apply a sandbox. It checks Zoom’s app signature and publisher before it starts Zoom or resets local data.

  • Back up and reset the current user’s %APPDATA%\Zoom\data folder.
  • Restore a saved backup from the helper.
  • Start Zoom without resetting data.
  • Open Zoom’s web app when the host permits browser joining.

Protected Zoom launches use online trial or voucher authorization; the trial token is kept with Windows DPAPI. Backups, restore, and browser fallback remain available if authorization is unavailable or expires. A reset may require signing in again and does not guarantee a fix for error 1132. Native Windows UI, installer execution, Authenticode signatures, and meeting/media results still need validation on Windows.

Keep the Mac and Windows builds separate.

The Windows helper includes no Mac sandbox profile. It uses standard per-user locations and does not change an existing Mac installation.
